There was a whole lot of nothing, but now, there's something

Apr. 6th, 2009 | 11:07 am

The title describes what happened to my blog over the past few months. It seems that I've been too busy or too lazy, to do anything about.

The first semester of this year is a good semester, with most of my grades in the 1.50 to 2.50 region. But this second semester, well, I'm not so sure. My only hope is that I pass ALL my subjects. I'm going to apply for three different courses this semester: BS Economics, BA Art Studies (Interdisciplinary Studies) and BS Geography. I'm more inclined on taking up Economics or Art Studies, but I applied for Geography as well because of the high acceptance rate of that course (of course, I'm also interested in Geography). However, I'm still not decided on which of the top two courses I should take. I find Art Studies to be my forte (sort of) but I do want to become an investment analyst or a stock broker, because I like to see money grow. However, taking Economics is harder compared to Art Studies. I'm not really sure, but I think I'll stick with Economics.

Now, I'm able to blog tonight without much worries because the semester is finally over the summer is finally kicking in. But this is one weird summer, I can say, with all the rain. It still is hot though, if it isn't raining. Over the summer, I aim to have cleaned up my old desktop and backup-ed all the important files in there. I also want to clean up the house, or at least portions of it, because my folks, and my sister do not have the time to do that. I think I should also get myself a debit card, which I can use for online transactions. So if you want to buy something, but do not have a credit card, I can buy it for you, but yo have to give me the money.

Anyway, since the end of classes, I've been thoroughly immersed on a lot of online social networking sites, specifically, Plurk (which I have been active in, around the start of this year, but more so after the end of classes) and Facebook (where I play online browser games, specifically, Mafia Wars and Street Racing). I also have two Ikariam accounts in Epsilon and Eta servers on the .com site. These things seem to be eating up a lot of my time. I no longer spend a lot of time on my desktop playing those games that one installs using CD/DVDs that you buy for a couple of hundred bucks in the corner pirated disc store (for most of us who can't afford the original discs), now I spend them more online. With the advent of cheap broadband internet, people now can play to their heart's content just about anything online. Well, if you still want the ass-kicking graphics, you still have to have a console game, but for most of us, we are satisfied with the simple browser game.

By the way, just a new development in the tech world: a company in the States has developed a new gaming system where you could subscribe and play ALL the games that you want online, with only a 1ms lag. So even if you only have a Pentium 4 HT computer with a GB of ram, you can play that latest games, provided that you have a nice internet connection and the company's game console.

So, given that, we can now be anyone or anything we want to be, and, if the technology in the last paragraph kicks-off, with nice graphics to partner our virtual reality. Nice. There's a downside to this though: we're now wasting time. I spend around 4 to 6 hours today cleaning the house, and an equal time playing. Talk about distraction. I could've done more if I weren't online playing games, but I can't help it: it's fun. And besides, who wouldn't want to be a multi-millionaire street racer?

These technologies were supposed to make us more productive people and to be able to communicate with our friends far away from us, but what happens to those around us? We tend to neglect them and just do our thing online, because it's easier to be online, to be able to say what you want to say and to do what you want to do anytime you want to. In the end, it the same technologies that hamper us from living a real life.

I'm not saying the we should forsake the internet and social networking altogether; what I'm saying is that we should control the internet, not the other way around. Besides, I, too, use it to keep up with my friends. It's cheaper than sending messages on your mobile phone.

Anyway, that's all for now. I still have to go back to my facebook games and check-out my Plurk.

'Nicole' Recants - Make your own conclusions

Mar. 17th, 2009 | 11:21 pm

‘Nicole’ recants
By Norman Bordadora
Philippine Daily Inquirer
First Posted 21:30:00 03/17/2009

MANILA, Philippines—The Filipino woman who accused an American Marine of raping her late in 2005 and testified about her ordeal in court has recanted.

The sworn statement issued by "Nicole" on March 12 comes more than two years after the Makati Regional Trial Court convicted Lance Corporal Daniel Smith of raping her.

Nicole said she expected her motives to be questioned but maintained she was bothered by her conscience

“I expect many sectors to question my motives in executing this statement more than three years after the incident. However…I can’t help but entertain doubts on whether the sequence of events in Subic last November of 2005 really occurred the way the court found them to have happened,” Nicole said in her affidavit.

“My conscience continues to bother me realizing that I may have in fact been so friendly and intimate with Daniel Smith at the Neptune Club that he was led to believe that I was amenable to having sex or that we simply just got carried away,” she said.

“I would rather risk public outrage than do nothing to help the court in ensuring that justice is served,” she added.

Nicole said she practically grew up interacting with American servicemen in Zamboanga City “who treated me and my family very well.”

She also questioned her decorum when she met Smith at the Neptune Club at the Subic Freeport, saying she was so drunk she may have lost her inhibitions and did more than just dance with the Marine.

Nicole also raised doubts that Smith raped her inside a van at the Subic Bay Freeport Zone and suggested that she may have welcomed the Marine’s sexual advances.

“I told the court that Daniel Smith kissed my lips and neck and held my breast inside the van. Recalling my testimony, I ask myself how I could have remembered this if witnesses told the court that I passed out and looked unconscious,” Nicole said.

“How could I have resisted his advances given this condition? Daniel Smith and I were alone on the third row of the van which had limited space and I do not recall anyone inside the van who held my hand or any part of my body,” she added.

Nicole said all she could remember was the “very loud music and shouting inside the van.”

“With the events at the Neptune Club in mind, I keep on asking myself, if Daniel Smith wanted to rape me why would he carry me out of the Neptune Club using the main entrance in full view of the security guard and the other customers?”

“Why would Daniel Smith and his companions bring me to the seawall of Alaba pier and casually leave this area that was well-lighted and with many people roaming around? If they believed that I was raped, would they have not dumped me instead in a dimly lit area…to avoid detection?”

Nicole said with the amount of alcohol she had consumed that night and only a slice of pizza to eat, she may have lost her inhibitions and enjoyed Smith’s company.

“I had no opportunity to deny in court that I kissed Daniel Smith but, with the amount of alcoholic mixed drinks I took, my low tolerance level for alcohol and with a slice of pizza all night, it dawned upon me that I may have possibly lost my inhibitions, became so intimate with Daniel Smith and did more that just [dance and talk] with him like everyone else on the dance floor,” Nicole said.

“Looking back, I would not have agreed to talk with Daniel Smith and dance with him no less that three times if I did not enjoy his company or was at least attracted to him since I met him for the very first time on the dance floor of Neptune Club,” she added.

Mary's Song (Oh my my my) ~Taylor Swift

Mar. 10th, 2009 | 08:27 am

She said, I was seven and you were nine
I looked at you like the stars that shined
In the sky, the pretty lights
And our daddies used to joke about the two of us
Growing up and falling in love and our mamas smiled
And rolled their eyes and said oh my my my
Took me back to the house in the backyard tree
Said you'd beat me up, you were bigger than me
You never did, you never did
Took me back when our world was one block wide
I dared you to kiss me and ran when you tried
Just two kids, you and I...
Oh my my my my
I was sixteen when suddenly
I wasn't that little girl you used to see
But your eyes still shined like pretty lights
And our daddies used to joke about the two of us
They never believed we'd really fall in love
And our mamas smiled and rolled their eyes
And said oh my my my...
Took me back to the creek beds we turned up
Two A.M. riding in your truck and all I need is you next to me
Took me back to the time we had our very first fight
The slamming of doors instead of kissing goodnight
You stayed outside til the morning light
Oh my my my my
A few years had gone and come around
We were sitting at our favorite spot in town
And you looked at me, got down on one knee
Took me back to the time we walked down the aisle
Our whole town came and our mamas cried
You said I do and I did too
Took me home were we met so many years before
We'll rock our babies on that very front porch
After all this time, you and I
I'll be eighty-seven; you'll be eighty-nine
I'll still look at you like the stars that shine
In the sky, oh my my my...

CRSRS

Feb. 3rd, 2009 | 08:02 am

After all the bickering, fighting, bad-mouthing, misunderstanding, cursing, commenting, questioning, reviewing, multiplying, blogging, posting and all the other things that happened in the name of two causes...

WHO WON?

Or what is the final result of the CRSRS?

Will somebody please reply? Thank you!

Will the UP administration meddle with student affairs in selecting the next Student Regent?

Jan. 30th, 2009 | 11:07 am

Here's the answer:

Hi. Thanks for asking and choosing to know.

Because by law, SR Shan will hold over until her successor is chosen. This hold over is technically still part of her "unexpired term" because the Law will not allow a vacuum in an office.

So because its part of her unexpired term, the Vacancy clause in the Charter applies. That in cases of vacancy, the means of how the previous SR was chosen will still be used. So for the duration na wala pang bagong amended CRSRS, we will use the old one temporarily.

The new CRSRS to be drafted will have to depend on the OSR. Whether she calls for a GASC, or she drafts it etc. One thing for sure. This is yet again, subject to the approval of the students through a referendum.

Defend the OSR from those who are crying 'Defend the OSR'

Jan. 16th, 2009 | 10:09 am

I got this from the blog of a friend, who in turn got this from the blog of another friend.
Anyway, I think he is right, and they are wrong.

This was posted by my friend, a CMC student, in his blog. I just had to repost it with his permission because it really impressed me.

DEFENDING THE OSR
by Andre Obidos

It's almost a month later and I still can't get over the UP Lantern Parade. The fireworks display at the end was the best I've ever seen - even better than those at Ayala during the Millennium celebration eight years ago.

I still remember laughing out loud when a marching band playing "Stars and Stripes Forever" came after a long line of protesters carrying banners screaming "Defend the OSR". The irony was really amusing.

Back then, I had absolutely no idea why we have to defend the Office of the Student Regent. Back then, I was annoyed at having activists screaming and chanting during one of the most festive days of the year.

Now that I know why, I'm even more annoyed.

The protesters were right. We have to defend the OSR. However, I believe that we have to defend the OSR  from those who are crying "Defend the OSR".

Why?

The campaign being spearheaded by STAND-UP is misleading at best, blatant disinformation at worst. There is no threat to the Office of the Student Regent stemming from the passage of the UP Charter last year.

What the 2008 Charter calls for is a referendum on the rules for the selection of the Student Regent. This is what the "Defend the OSR" campaign is all about. They are telling us to vote "yes" in the referendum two weeks from now - a vote that, if successful, will institutionalize the existing Codified Rules for Student Regent Selection (CRSRS).

A "no" vote in that referendum will not lead to the abolition of the Office of the Student Regent. The OSR is a part of the UP Charter. Since the Charter is a law  (Republic Act 9500) passed by the Philippine Congress, an office mandated by it cannot be removed by a mere student referendum. A "no" vote will, in effect, open up the CRSRS to review and possible amendment.

And that is what I believe to be the "threat" that the "Defend the OSR" campaign is calling us to  "defend" against.

The two other major political parties in UP, ALYANSA and KAISA, are calling for amendments to the CRSRS. These amendments include having a minimum academic requirement for would-be Student Regents, the inclusion of the duties and responsibilities of the Student Regent, the removal of KASAMA sa UP from the CRSRS as secretariat, and the revision of the Student Regent selection process which would give every UP college one vote each.

So what is the threat here?

A minimum academic requirement that would prevent the likes of a Joseph Estrada from leading and representing the UP students at the Board of Regents?

The definition of what the Student Regent can and should do for his or her constituents?

The removal of a partisan political body from a position wherein it could influence or even control who can become Student Regent?

The democratization of a selection process that today gives disproportionate votes to each UP unit?

I don't see any threats here, other than the removal of certain advantages from a certain political movement we all know and love. But that is just me speculating.

This referendum gives us the perfect excuse and opportunity to review and amend the CRSRS to further professionalize and democratize the Office of the Student Regent. Now what could be wrong with that?

Those in the "Defend the OSR" camp say that a failure of the referendum will lead to the abolition of the OSR or at least open up the OSR to a Malacanang appointee. If the referendum fails, the sitting SR will remain until a replacement is selected.

However, that replacement will have to be chosen by the students in accordance with rules and qualifications approved in a referendum by the students as written and enforced in the UP Charter. A failure of the referendum will leave current SR Shahana Abdulwahid as SR until her replacement is selected by the UP students. Her replacement will have to wait until another referendum is held to ratify the CRSRS or an amended version of it.

The bottom line here is that there can be no Malacanang appointee or abolition of the OSR. The "Defend the OSR" people are only using this bogey as a scare tactic, plain and simple. And what they are doing is blatant disinformation. They are being dishonest with us.

They are lying to us.

Yes, we should defend the Office of the Student Regent. The Student Regent represents us and fights for us at the Board of Regents. It is our sole voice in the highest policy-making body of the University of the Philippines.

We should defend the OSR from those who would use it for their own partisan ends. We should fight for its professionalization. We should call for the further democratization of the SR selection process.

If the referendum for the ratification of the CRSRS scheduled on January 26-29, 2009 asks me whether or not I want to keep the Codified Rules for Student Regent Selection as flawed as they are right now,

I will vote no.

And so shall I.

I've got more than 500 photos in my autoupload folder, and that does not include all the others that are waiting to be uploaded.

And it's hard to classify, choose and edit them all. I have to have a lot time and a proper computer to that. Well, I hope that I do get the proper computer soon. But the lot of time criteria might be a little hard to get. But I have to do the photos. Then I'll upload them to my professional site. Well, I'll do that later. Hmm, might as well write them down so I don't forget.

Why is it so hard to blog?

Jan. 8th, 2009 | 03:23 am

Why is it getting so hard to blog? You know what, I remember the days when I used to have a lot of stuff to put down in this so called blog of mine. Nowadays, I just can't seem to remember anything. It's really easy to have thoughts for me while I'm walking alone to class, or just sitting down while waiting for my friend. But when I put myself in front of the computer, everything's just gone.

Well, that's that. Nothing I can do much about it, though. I'll just talk about stuff later, when I get the chance to sit down in front of my pc and ponder things through.

After Long Days of Silence

Dec. 20th, 2008 | 03:45 am

I finally get to post something here in my Multiply account. Earlier on, I've been too busy or too lazy to post anything. Then there's also the DSL problems we experienced with our former provider. Then our wireless router got busted.

Well, I'm still busy now but I think I'm finding the time now to post stuff here. Many thanks to Multiply's new AutoUploader feature, I no longer have to keep my browser on to upload tons of photos of which only few will really be shown. I'm doing a couple of book covers now that I'm suppsed to finish either today or tomorrow so, I don't think I'll take longer time in doing this stuff. Just to want to say that I'm still alive.

Hope I can post more soon. See you 'round.

CP tricks from Lara

Would you like to know if your mobile phone is original or not?

Press the following on your mobile *#06# and the international mobile equipment identity
number appears [ yun yung serial number :D ~kyla]. Then check the 7th and 8th numbers.

If the 7th and 8th digits are:

02 / 20 - your cellphone was assembled in Emirates which is very Bad Quality
08 / 80 - your cellphone was manufactured in Germany which is fair quality
01 / 10 - your cellphone was manufactured in Finland which is Very Good
00 - your cellphone was manufactured in an original factory which is the best mobile quality
13 - your cellphone was assembled in Azeerbaijan which is very bad quality and also
       dangerous to your health

There are a few things that can be done in times of grave emergencies.
Your mobile phone can actually be a life saver or an emergency tool for
survival. Check out the things that you can do with it:

(1) EMERGENCY
The Emergency Number worldwide for Mobile is 112. If you find yourself out of coverage area of your mobile network and there is an emergency, dial 112 and  the mobile will search any existing network to establish the emergency number for you, and interestingly this number 112 can be dialed even if the keypad is locked.

(2) CAR KEYS
Have you locked your keys in the car? Does your car have remote keys?
This may come in handy someday. If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys
are at home, call someone at home on their cellphone from your cellphone. Hold your cellphone about a foot from your car door and have the person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on their end. Your car will unlock.
Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you could reach someone who has the other "remote" for you  car, you can unlock the doors or the trunk.

(3) HIDDEN BATTERY POWER
Imagine your cell battery is very low, you are expecting an important call and you don't have a charger. Nokia instrument comes with a reserve battery. To activate, press the keys *3370# Your cell will restart with this reserve and the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery. This reserve will get charged when you charge your cell phone next time.

AND

(4) How to disable the STOLEN mobile phone?

To check the Mobile Phone's serial number, key in *#06#
A 15-digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe (much better if you memorized it!) When your phone get stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them the code. They will then be able to block your handset so even if the theif changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally useless.

You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can't use/sell it either. If everybody does this, there would be no point in people stealing mobile phones.

Our culture can make this not work, I guess.

Jun. 28th, 2008 | 11:47 am

Statistically speaking, unless you are a total hermit, a social retard, or ugly as a putrid bum, there is at least one person in your multiply network that has a crush on, wants to date you, wants to sleep with you or simply just wants to kiss you. So... let's play "No Guts, No Glory!"

The rules are simple.

   1. If you want to date the person who posted this, send a Personal Message, not a reply to this post, saying "Coffee?"
   2. If you have a crush on the person who posted this, send a Personal Message saying"You're hot!"
   3. If you just want to sleep with them & stay friends, send them a message that says "Nice shoes!"
   4. If you simply just want to kiss the person who posted this, send a Personal Message saying, "I do!"

SCARED?

The only rule is that, you must not make anyone who sends you a personal message feel stupid for feeling that way about you. Acknowledge. Say thank you. Move on.

IF YOU'VE READ THIS, YOU HAVE TO REPOST THIS, EVEN IF YOU'RE TAKEN & see who replies.

SO... re-post this as "No Guts, No Glory", as it doesn't matter if you're married, in a relationship, or single.

You opened it so you HAVE to repost it! A test of your bravery.

Got this from a friend..

repost of nate's repost. :D

Something that happened in Katipunan, Q.C.

Many of you may not have heard of the incident that happened to a friend of my son last week at about 6:30 pm right in front of the thickly-populated area of BPI-Katipunan, near Shoppersville. She parked her car right in front of BPI to make a withdrawal and to do some grocery. As she was getting into her car after doing her chores, a man suddenly appeared beside her and tried to bully her into moving to the passenger seat. When she pressed her car horn to call attention, he pushed her in the car and pinned her down with his elbow on her neck. It was a good thing that she had the presence of mind to continue to struggle and press on her car horn to catch attention (even if she had to use her foot to do this). Her assailant even tried to make people believe that it was a domestic matter by telling the crowd not to get involved as it was a "private matter". But with the onlookers multiplying by the second, her assailant finally gave up and ran. That was when she stood up and shouted for help. Thank God the guy got caught and is now under police custody.

Last Saturday, during the inquest, she told me that what gave her the guts to fight her assailant was the article "THROUGH A RAPIST'S EYES" forwarded to our e-group about a week prior to her attack. I am re-forwarding the article (you can find it at the bottom of this e-mail) for everyone's benefit. Please tell your friends, family, and loved ones about this. It works. May I just add that to a certain extent, we have to get ourselves involved if we see violence being committed on anyone like calling on a security guard or a police officer even if it appears to be a domestic matter. It seems that a lot of attackers use that tactic to get away with violence. Not many people know how to take care of themselves when faced with such a situation. Everyone, please be very, very careful.

THOUGHT THIS WAS GOOD INFO TO PASS ALONG...

FYI - Through a rapist's eyes!

A group of rapists and date rapists in prison were interviewed on what they look for in a potential victim and here are some interesting facts:

1] The first thing men look for in a potential victim is hairstyle. They are most likely to go after a woman w ith a ponytail, bun, braid or other hairstyle that can easily be grabbed. They are also likely to go after a woman with long hair. Women with short hair are not common targets.

2] The second thing men look for is clothing. They will look for women whose clothing is easy to remove quickly. Many of them carry scissors around to cut clothing.

3] They also look for women on their cell phone, searching through their purse or doing other activities while walking because they are off guard and can be easily overpowered.

4] The number one place women are abducted from/attacked at is a grocery store parking lot.

5] Number two are office parking lots/garages.

6] Number three are public restrooms.

7] The thing about these men is that they are looking to grab a woman and quickly move her to a second location where they don't have to worry about getting caught.

8] If you put up any kind of a fight at all, they get discouraged because it only takes a minute or two for them to realize that going after you isn't worth it because it will be time-consuming.

9] These men said they would not pick on women who have umbrellas, or other similar objects that can be used from a distance, in their hands.

10] Keys are not a deterrent because you have to get really close to the attacker to use them as a weapon. So, the idea is to convince these guys you're not worth it.

POINTS THAT WE SHOULD REMEMBER:

1] If someone is following behind you on a street or in a garage or with you in an elevator or stairwell, look them in the face and ask them a question, like 'what time is it', or make general small talk like 'can't believe it is so cold out here, we're in for a bad winter'. Now that you've seen their faces and could identify them in a line- up, you lose appeal as a target.

2] If someone is coming toward you, hold out your hands in front of you and yell 'Stop!' or 'Stay back!' Most of the rapists this man talked to said they'd leave a woman alone if she yelled or showed that she would not be afraid to fight back. Again, they are looking for an EASY target.

3] If you carry pepper spray (this instructor was a huge advocate of it and carries it with him wherever he goes,) yelling 'I HAVE PEPPER SPRAY!' and holding it out will be a deterrent.

4] If someone grabs you, you can't beat them with strength but you can do it by outsmarting them. If you are grabbed around the waist from behind, pinch the attacker either under the arm between the elbow and armpit or in the upper inner thigh - HARD. One woman in a class this guy taught told him she used the underarm pinch on a guy who was trying to date rape her and was so upset she broke through the skin and tore out muscle strands the guy needed stitches. Try pinching yourself in those places as hard as you can stand it; it really hurts.

5] After the initial hit, always go for the groin. I know from a particularly unfortunate experience that if you slap a guy's parts it is extremely painful. You might think that you'll anger the guy and make him want to hurt you more, but the thing these rapists told our instructor is that they want a woman who will not cause him a lot of trouble. Start causing trouble, and he's out of there.

6] When the guy puts his hands up to you, grab his first two fingers and bend them back as far as possible with as much pressure pushing down on them as possible. The instructor did it to me without using much pressure, and I ended up on my knees and both knuckles cracked audibly.

7] Of course the things we always hear still apply. Always be aware of your surroundings, take someone with you if you can and if you see any odd behavior, don't dismiss it, go with your instincts. You may feel a little silly at the time, but you'd feel much worse if the guy really was trouble.

FINALLY, PLEASE REMEMBER THESE AS WELL ...

I know you are smart enough to know these pointers but there will be some time, when you will go "Hmm... I must remember that." After reading, forward it to someone you care about. Never hurts to be careful in this crazy world we live in.

1. Tip from Tae Kwon Do: The elbow is the strongest point on your body. If you are close enough to use it, do it.

2. Learned this from a tourist guide to New Orleans: If a robber asks for your wallet and/or purse, DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM. Toss it away from you... chances are that he is more interested in your wallet and/or purse than you and he will go for the wallet and/or purse. RUN LIKE MAD IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!

3. If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car: Kick out the back tail lights and stick your arm out the hole and start waving like crazy. The driver won't see you but everybody else will. This has saved lives.

4. Women have a tendency to get into their cars after shopping, eating, working, etc., and just sit (doing their checkbook, or making a list, etc.) DON'T DO THIS!The predator will be watching you, and this is the perfect opportunity for him to get in on the passenger side, put a gun to your head, and tell you where to go. AS SOON AS YOU LOCK YOUR DOORS...LEAVE!

5. A few notes about getting into your car in a parking lot, or parking garage:

   a. Be aware. Look around you. Look into your car, at the passenger side floor, and in the back seat.

   b. If you are parked next to a big van, enter your car from the passenger door. Most serial killers attack their victims by pulling them into their vans while the women are attempting to get into their cars.

   c. Look at the car parked on the driver's side of your vehicle, and the passenger side. If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest your car, you may want to walk back into the mall, or work, and get a guard/policeman to walk you back out. IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. (And better paranoid than dead.)

6. ALWAYS take the elevator instead of the stairs. (Stairwells are horrible places to be alone and the perfect crime spot).

7. If the predator has a gun and you are not under his control, ALWAYS RUN! The predator will only hit you (a running target) 4 in 100 times. And even then, it most likely WILL NOT be a vital organ. RUN!

8. As women, we are always trying to be sympathetic: STOP IT! It may get you raped, or killed. Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good-looking, well educated man, who ALWAYS played on the sympathies of unsuspecting women. He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked "for help" into his vehicle or with his vehicle, which is when he abducted his next victim.

I'd like you to forward this to all the women you know. It may save a life. A candle is not dimmed by lighting another candle. I was going to send this to the ladies only, but guys, if you love your mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, etc., you may want to pass it onto them, as well.

Send this to any woman you know that may need to be reminded that the world we live in has a lot of crazies in it and it's better safe than sorry.

Lens choice

Mar. 19th, 2008 | 09:46 am

Hello there!
I'd appreciate a little advice on what kind of lens should I buy.
I have an 18-55mm kit lens with my 350D and I'm wondering what should be the next set of lens that I'd buy.
18-105mm ang unang choice ko kasi it's the cheapest lens with a wide range pero sabi sa akin ng isang friend ko is that I should buy a more expensive set.
Gagamitin ko kasi yung lens for wedding photography, photojournalism and non-obstructive photography [like shooting candid portraits from afar in our church during solemn events, exactly the reason why i need a long lens]. Isa pa lang ang body ko so I need something that is flexible para hindi ako palit ng palit ng lens.

I'm also planning to buy a third party flash (para mura), so ano kaya ang magandang brand?

And ano ang mas maganda? ND Filter and 1/2 gradient ND Filter or polarizer? Gusto ko kasi yung pwede sa iba't ibang sizes ng lenses.

PS. Alam niyo kung ano yung address ng ph-photo? Please post here. Thanks.
